Music piracy: some things never change

The RIAA is waging a war against music piracy, trying to stop what has become as common as breathing. It’s probably too late. I came across this article from The New York Times:

The legitimate publishing business of the United States has fallen off 50 per cent in the past twelve months…Their investigation has revealed that all of the most popular songs have been counterfeited.

Does this sound like June 13, 2008? Actually, it’s from June 13, 1897 — over a century ago. The method is different, but the result is the same. Only now, the means of duplicating a musical product is in all of our hands: everyone is a pirate.
